Cloud Hands Tai Chi with Michael Ward
Registration for Fall session (Sept. – Dec.) is open!!
Dates:
Mondays, September 29th to December 15th
No classes on October 20th & December 1st
6:30 – 7:30 pm – Beginner Part 3
Description: In the Beginner Part 3 Tai Chi classes students learn the third/final section of the Tai Chi form (postures 26-37). Students registering for this class can also attend a Zoom class on Thursday evening with the same content. A link to a recording of the Zoom class will be sent weekly, and can be used to assist in practicing the movements between classes.
7:30 – 9:00 pm – Corrections and Sensing Hands
Description: The Corrections and Sensing Hands class will cover the entire 37 postures Tai Chi form as taught by Professor Cheng Man-ch’ing. Students must already know the choreography of the Tai Chi form.
The Corrections form part of this combination class will include a review of the “external” postures, as well as work on the “internal” underlying fundamentals of how movement happens in Tai Chi. In the Sensing Hands portion of the class students will work cooperatively, rather than competitively. Students will develop their ability to “listen” and “stick” to their partner’s movements. They will also learn to detect “resistance” in their partner’s movements, as well as in their own.
MENOPAUSE – and Her Sisters, Perimenopause and Postmenopause
Ah, menopause… and let’s not forget her sisters, perimenopause and postmenopause! This trio tends to show up with plenty of surprises, can stir up quite a bit of disruption, and often lasts far longer than we’d like – sometimes for a decade or more.
The menopausal transition is a major chapter in life and affects more than half of US adults. While we can’t opt out of this transition, the good news is that we’re finally in a time where women are more empowered to talk openly about their experiences. And with more than 30 symptoms associated with menopause, there’s a whole lot to talk about!
The menopausal transition is complex, and many of the symptoms that emerge can persist long after a person is post-menopausal. There is promising work being done to help ease these symptoms, regardless of what stage you are in. For example, in June 2025, the American Urological Association released new guidelines for diagnosing and treating Genitourinary Syndrome of Menopause (GSM). These guidelines offer much-needed support for people experiencing symptoms like genital dryness and irritation, painful intercourse, frequent or urgent urination, and recurring urinary tract infections.
In addition to GSM, perimenopause and menopause may come with many other concerns, which may include mood changes or heightened anxiety, hot flashes and night sweats, metabolic changes, and joint pain – just to name a few! Acupuncture can help ease your symptoms and become an important part of your approach to menopause-related care.

Join Licensed Acupuncturist and Somatic Experiencing Practitioner Alaine Duncan for a year-long exploration of her East meets West approach to restoring balance and regulation in survivors of traumatic stress.
Follow the 5 Elements and the 5 Seasons of the Chinese agricultural calendar — and their interface with self-protective responses found in animal predator-prey relationships and described in western neuroscience in general and PolyVagal Theory in particular.
Be amazed at the innovative approaches to support balance and regulation in trauma survivors that emerge out of this East meets West approach.
Receive in-depth didactic and hands-on instruction and practice to help trauma survivors complete missing or thwarted steps in the Self-Protective Response.
Acupuncturists, body-workers, medical providers, and somatically-oriented mental health clinicians are welcome.
Central to The Tao of Trauma classes are the supervised clinical practice sessions in each module. Students “lend” their nervous system/energy body to fellow classmates to explore and practice the interaction, observation, and touch skills inherent in The Tao of Trauma model.
Dyadic practice merges cognitive learning with body wisdom, cultivates deeper somatic awareness in the therapeutic experience of both practitioner and client — and builds the fabric of the class. They are the heart and soul of the classroom model.
