Joyful Reflections – A Daylong for People of Color, with Kate Johnson
SATURDAY September 26, 2020 • 10 AM – 5 PM
For people of color in a racist world, the experience of joy is an act of resilience.
It’s also a practice that the Buddha taught — one that can expand our capacity for gladness through awareness of our profound interconnection with one another.
In this daylong meditation workshop we’ll experience guided meditations, short dharma talks, journaling, chanting, accessible movement practices and small group discussions to help us access the joy that is already always here, and to amplify it for the benefit of all beings — including ourselves.
Join us, and learn practices of joyful reflection that you can continue in your everyday life, both on and off the cushion. Further information and registration to become available.
Radiating Love – A Daylong for the LGBTIQ+ Community, with Kate Johnson
SUNDAY, September 27, 2020 – 10 AM – 5 PM
As LGBTQI+ folks, we may have been taught that the way we express our gender or sexuality is too much, or not enough. But from the perspective of the Buddha’s teachings on bodhicitta or “basic goodness,” who and how we are is perfection. Feeling into our own most authentic way to share our identities and spiritual experiences as LGBTQI+ folks can be a profound mindfulness practice all its own, and a generous act of love for ourselves, each other, and the wide wide world.
Join us for this daylong event, where through guided meditation, short talks, chanting and small group dialogue we’ll explore the practice of radiating metta (unconditional love) as an expansive expression of all of who we are — including our genders and sexualities as we experience them in the present moment. Further information and registration to become available.
